A hand-tailored blazer of twill herringbone Pendleton Wool provides the backdrop for exploring all the rewarding little details of a turn-of-the-century unfinished quilt top pieced in an Ocean Waves pattern. With that elegant and subtle background, Joanne was able to map a tour through the richly varied sections of the top’s light-dark triangle motif, picking and choosing all the most worthy and interesting sections. While some small segments were perfect for quirky little embellishments, other whole swathes merited featured treatment, like the generous collar, with its charming asymmetrical edge suggesting an exotic coastline.
This slimming, refined piece features an Earl Grey-stained, subtly polka-dotted silk Jacquard lining, two pretty antique buttons that dive through neatly bound button holes, cozy deep pockets. A striking blazer, it has the heft to be proudly worn for both warmth and style as an outer garment.
